Notable Quotables

Elizabeth Braddock: “Winston, you are drunk, and what’s more you are disgustingly drunk.”

Winston Churchill: “Bessie, my dear, you are ugly, and what’s more, you are disgustingly ugly. But tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be disgustingly ugly.”

Ever see “The Churchill Wit” in the old National Lampoon? It goes something like this:

Elizabeth Braddock: “Winston, you are drunk, and what’s more you are disgustingly drunk.”

Winston Churchill: “Fuck off, you ugly cunt.”

Another one attributed to Churchill in a similar context (although I can’t remember the female foil’s name):

FF: “If you were my husband, I’d give you poison.”

WC: “And if you were my wife, madam, I’d drink it.”

more on the ugliness of men:

at a post-meet collegiate swim team meal. a shy sweet ugly freshman girl, unknowingly, sits down too near the men’s table. They bark at her: “Woof Woof.” she tears up, but is consoled by the girls sitting nearby.

This is how men treat a teammate, who scored over 1000 points for their team for the year. Scorn for her.

  4. Tarl,
No I haven’t. It sounds funny though.

    Sestamibi,
Yeah I’ve heard that one. I think Lady Astor is the one that it is usually attributed to.

    JZ,
Churchill is an ugly man huh. The world needs a bit more ugliness then.

I’ll happily concede the point that some men are mean.

Re Lady Astor, that’s what I thought, but I wasn’t quite sure.
